The FASTEAM Together Tool is ready!
What does good family engagement in STEAM actually look like – and how can schools make it happen in practice?
Over the past months, the FASTEAM partners have been working on our first major project result: the Together Tool. After developing the first version and working with it during our training in Skopje, the tool has now been finalised and is available on the FASTEAM website.
The Together Tool is designed to help teachers and schools strengthen the connection between school, families and STEAM learning. It brings together practical ideas, approaches and activities that can help schools involve parents and caregivers in an accessible way – both at school and at home. During the Skopje training, educators also used the tool as a starting point for developing their own school-wide plans for family engagement.
Inside, you’ll find inspiration for communicating and working with families, planning family engagement and creating opportunities for children and their families to explore STEAM together. The focus is on ideas that are realistic and easy to adapt to different school contexts.
And an important principle runs throughout the tool: parents don’t need to be STEAM experts to get involved. Curiosity, encouragement and exploring together can already play an important role in how children experience science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
The Together Tool is only the beginning. FASTEAM is also working on STEAM Storytime with Experiments, an Online Family Challenges Platform and teacher training, all aimed at bringing STEAM learning closer to families and making it more inclusive.
